The apostle John tells us that ‘God so loved the world’ and in doing so he reveals to us ‘God’s yearning love for the lost’, a yearning love which is well illustrated in the three parables we find in Luke 15. Those who seek to please God should show that same kind of love but as we look at these parables we will see that it is not always the case and that as well as great encouragement the final parable also contains a surprising sting in the tail!
