A Ministry of Comfort & a Message of Hope – Ridgeway Community Church

This Sunday our preacher is Paul Mallard from the FIEC (Fellowship of independent evangelical churches).

Paul will preach from Isaiah 40:1-11 under the title “A Ministry of Comfort & a Message of Hope”.

Sometimes life can be confusing and disappointing. Isaiah 40 is addressed to a group of people who feel that God has forsaken them and deserted them – maybe he doesn’t even know about their circumstances (40:27). In this situation Isaiah brings a word of comfort (40:1-2). He wants to assure them of God’s forgiveness and to encourage them by reminding them of three voices from the Lord. He tells them of the glory of the Lord – the God whose plans are invincible (40:3-5). He reminds them of the word of the Lord – in contrast to human strength and durability God’s word continues forever (40:6-8). Finally he reminds them of the arm of the Lord – an arm which is powerful and yet tender like the arm of a shepherd caring for his flock (40:9-11).
